Course Name: Workshop on Comprehensive Approaches to the in vivo Assessment of Cardiovascular Function in Mice
Course Description: The workshop focuses on the assessment of cardiovascular function in mouse models. This is a comprehensive program which includes didactic lectures by leaders in the field of cardiovascular physiology, pharmacology and pathology and hands on workshops. Sessions will focus on non-invasive high-resolution echocardiography (VisualSonics), telemetry (Data Sciences International) and catheter-dependent (ADInstruments) approaches to monitoring cardiovascular parameters in vivo. The final day will cover methods for analyzing data collected during the course of the workshop as well as study design and statistical analysis. Surgical and anesthesic techniques will also be taught.

Course Name: The Southampton Practical Cardiac MRI Course

Course Description: This 5-day course covers the theory and practical applications of cardiac MRI (CMR) It is designed for a small number of delegates to allow for hands-on workstation experience, small group tutorials and live scanning sessions – the emphasis being on developing the practical skills and knowledge to perform CMR. Course Description: The compact course includes more than 15 hours of theoretical coursework. Live patient demos are provided, including dobutamine stress and perfusion imaging. A wide variety of cases is presented and discussed. Basic knowledge on MR techniques and basic cardiac physiology and pathophysiology is taught seperately for radiologists and cardiologists. Course Name: Duke Cardiovascular MR Practicum

Course Description: This practicum, developed by the Duke Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Center (DCMRC), is designed to provide the participant with an understanding of the principles of magnetic resonance imaging, safety issues in performing cardiac MR, and imaging protocols currently available for the evaluation of the structure and function of the cardiovascular system. Case presentations, one-on-one discussion and observation of actual patient imaging (1.5 and 3.0 Tesla scanners) will be emphasized.

Course Description: This level 2 fellowships covers the basics of CMR along with advanced education required to enable attendees to independently conduct standardized CMR examinations. It provides the preparation for routine clinical use of CMR with all necessary theoretical and practical background including workflow aspects. Courses are structured according to the "Level 2" - credentialling criteria. Criteria for Credentials This course fullfills the guidelines of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR). More than 50 hours of CMR related coursework including - CMR physics - studies of biologic effects - instrumentation - contrast agent mechanism and studies - cardiovascular anatomy - cadiovascular physiology and pathophysiology - magnetic resonance techniques and pulse sequences - CMR indications and methods of interpretation - use of stress agents - quality control Supervised interpretation of more than 250 CMR studies representing the range of abnormalities observed in practice including both cardiac and vascular studies. - Basics in physics - Anatomy of the heart - Assessment of left and right ventricular function - CMR examination under dobutamine stress - Perfusion measurements - Diagnosis of myocardial infarction - Imaging of the coronary arteries - Diagnosis of valvular heart disease - Diagnosis of neoplasia - Imaging of thoracic and peripheral vessels For more than 50 of these studies the trainee will perform the analysis and make the initial interpretation.
