Abstract submission about to close: Gearing up for the 2017 Scientific Sessions

While the deadline for abstract submissions has been extended for one week (final date: August 29th), the program of the 2017 SCMR Scientific Sessions in Washington D.C. is shaping up. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the meeting will combine successful elements from previous years with several new session formats. Just to name some of them:

  • The new "Engineer’s Preconference Workshop“ will be directed at physicists, biomedical engineers and basic scientists involved in cardiovascular imaging and provide basic knowledge in clinical medicine.
  • Physicians interested in clinical CMR training will benefit from pursuing the educational track including the Physician’s Preconference and the Case review sessions, which now will be complemented by overview lectures given by experts in the field.
  • CMR in congenital heart disease will be addressed in its own Preconference course, in numerous abstract and lecture sessions, and in dedicated talks throughout the entire meeting.
  • Completing the set of preconference courses (which are free of charge for attendees of the main meeting), the Interventional CMR workshop will provide a forum for education and discussions in this rising segment of CMR.

The outreach theme of the meeting will be CMR’s role in heart failure. For this reason, this topic will be covered by two plenary sessions with renowned speakers, and addressed at several occasions throughout the program.

As in previous years, the meeting will be preceded by a one-and-a-half day Joint SCMR-ISMRM co-sponsored workshop. This one-and-a-half day workshop will be titled "CMR for Probing Mechanisms of Heart Disease: Micro to Macro to Model“, and will aim to enhance our understanding of the links between cardiac physiology and advanced CMR techniques.

For the first time, abstracts will also be presented in Power Pitch sessions, and personal advise on CMR issues can be sought from Mentor’s corners - more details to follow in an upcoming newsletter. We look forward to seeing you in Washington DC to celebrate our 20th anniversary.
