Vanessa Ferreira, MD, PhD FSCMR

Dr. Ferreira is a world-leading clinical expert, researcher, and educator in the field of CMR. In her role as deputy clinical director of the Oxford Centre for Clinical Magnetic Resonance Research (OCMR) she runs a large clinical CMR service, she is an extremely experienced CMR clinician, and her clinical opinion is frequently sought locally, nationally, and internationally. She is one of the world leaders in CMR research, having published over 100 manuscripts with nearly 10,000 citations and an h-index of 38. She is one of the main founders of cardiac tissue characterization with parametric mapping, as evidenced by authoring many of the ground-breaking papers of the field, and her leading role as first author of the revised Lake Louise criteria for CMR imaging in myocarditis. She has raised ~$8 million in research funding. She has won numerous awards for her work, and so have some of her trainees. Vanessa shines as an educator, as attested to by over 100 invited lectures to scientific conferences, and she is an inspirational leader for her trainees. Finally, Professor Ferreira’s contributions to the SCMR society have been enormous, including her time on the board of trustees, chairing the mapping special interest group, the CMR certification preparatory course, and contributions to several other SCMR committees and official statements, to just name a few.
