Carlos Rochitte, MD, PhD, FSCMR is a Associate Professor of Cardiology at Heart Institute (InCor) University of São Paulo Medical School. He is also Director of Cardiovascular MR and CT at hcor, Heart Hospital and works at Dasa/Alta, São Paulo, Brazil. He is Academic Coordinator of the 2-year post-doctoral Cardiovascular MR and CT fellowship programs and trained over 100 cardiologists and radiologists in both institutions. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Arquivos Brasileiros de Cardiologia (ABC Cardiol) and a member of the current board of directors of the Brazilian Society of Cardiology (15,000 members and one of the largest Cardiology Societies in the World). Dr. Rochitte is one of the founders and the immediate past president (2020-2021) of the cardiovascular imaging department (DIC) of the Brazilian Society of Cardiology (SBC). He received his medical degree from São Paulo State University School of Medicine (UNESP, 1990), completed his cardiology clinical fellowship (1993), Ph.D. in Medicine (2001) at Heart Institute (InCor) University of São Paulo Medical School, São Paulo, Brazil. He was a post-doctoral fellow in cardiovascular MRI at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD, (1995-1999). He is an established researcher in Brazil and has over 250 scientific publications indexed in the Pubmed, including research papers in myocardial infarctions/microvascular obstruction myocardial sodium-23 CMR studies in animals and humans. He has also pioneered the use of late gadolinium enhancement in 4 specific non-ischemic cardiomyopathies: Chagas´ disease, muscular dystrophy, aortic valve disease, and endomyocardial fibrosis. He is a founding member of SCMR and has been active at SCMR meetings since 1996 (never missed a meeting since then). He was Chair of the Latin American Chapter of SCMR, member of the editorial board of the JCMR, member of scientific program committee and served as member of the SCMR Board of Trustees from 2013 to 2017. He will work to increase SCMR footprint around the World.
