Description: We provide one week of intensive cardiac MRI training. Aim of the course is to provide fundamental insights into routine cardiac MRI and routine diagnostic indications, such as adenosine stress perfusion CMR and CMR for myocariditis.

Up to 6 cardiac MRIs per day will be performed in a condensed time schedule of 4 hours. The rest of the time will be spent on a workstation reviewing more than 100 interesting cases and discussing cardiac pathologies on MRI.

5-DAY COMPACT COURSE – LEVEL 1

German Heart Institute Berlin
Augustenburger Platz 1, 13353
Berlin -Germany
Email: arts@cmr-academy.de

The compact course includes more than 15 hours of theoretical coursework. Live patient demos are provided, including dobutamine stress and perfusion imaging. A wide variety of cases is presented and discussed. Basic knowledge on MR techniques and basic cardiac physiology and pathophysiology is taught separately for radiologists and cardiologists. The spectrum of topics will be continuously modified in order to keep up-to-date with clinical and technical developments.

The course contains lectures on:

  • Basics in physics
  • Basic cardiac physiology & pathophysiology
  • Anatomy of the heart
  • Assessment of left and right ventricular function
  • CMR examination under dobutamine stress
  • Perfusion measurements
  • Diagnosis of myocardial infarction
  • Imaging of the coronary arteries
  • Diagnosis of valvular heart disease
  • Diagnosis of neoplasia
  • Imaging of thoracic and peripheral vessels
  • Patient scanning will be performed for dobutamine stress examinations, perfusion imaging, and infarct imaging
  • Case demonstrations round up the lectures

The CMR Unit in Pisa is an international referral centre, performing more than 2000 cardiovascular CMR studies per year covering a wide range of clinical issues (from congenital heart disease, to ischaemic and nonischaemic cardiomyopathy).

We offer 1-week courses (see program in the attachments below), as well as 3-month courses and 6-month courses for cardiologists, radiologists and radiographers interested in cardiovascular magnetic resonance.

DUKE CARDIOVASCULAR MR PRACTICUM AND BOARD REVIEW COURSE

Duke University
Durham, North Carolina, USA

Contact: Michele Parker michele.parker@duke.edu

Program Directors: Raymond Kim, MD and Robert Judd, PhD

The DCMRC provides a twice-yearly practicum that provides the participant with an understanding of the principles of magnetic resonance imaging, safety issues in performing cardiac MR, and imaging protocols currently available for the evaluation of the structure and function of the cardiovascular system. Case presentations, one-on-one discussion, and observation of actual patient imaging will be emphasized.

This course is applicable toward the SCMR requirements for Level 1 (Track B) and Level 2 certification and is aligned with the content for future CMR Board Exams.

Brochure for course can be found here.
