CMR Considerations in CMS’ Revised Coverage Policy for ICD Implantation

On February 15th, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced a revised coverage policy for implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) implantation. In the final decision memorandum, CMS adds cardiovascular magnetic resonance to the list of diagnostic imaging modalities that can evaluate left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). SCMR supported this change and encouraged the Agency to add CMR for evaluation of other indications.
